Although the Indians currently have a 9 game winning streak, what happens when this winning streak possibly ends?
A few statistical oddities seem to favor continued winning even if the streak ends one day.
Jake Westbrook has a TWO game winning streak, and is um, 4-9
Kevin Millwood won his last start is and now, 2-4!
Vic Martinez drove in a run today to give him 22 through the first 67 games of the season!
Vic is on "pace" to drive in 55 RUNS for the entire season!
55 RBI's is approximately half the RBI's that Vic drove in last season!
We have a number five starter pitching like a number two starter.
AND, we only have had one rain out so far, and as a result our days off keep coming up at the most ideal times to give our pen a rest.
I call all of the above "statistical anamolies" that should straighten out by years end, and the lack of rainouts will allow us to get days off while other teams lose there days off to make up rained out games from earlier in the season.
Now throw in the possibility that Casey and Boone will end up near their seasonal averages and if this streak ever ends, we may not drop like a rock afterall.
And throw in the possibility that Hernandez and Hafner are now healed from early season injuries, AND that Grady, Coco, and Peralta may either maintain or get better as the season progresses, and all roads point to at the very least, being in contention for a playoff berth come September.
